As artists we struggle to fund our ideas. We often have to work with what sells rather than what our soul is calling for us to create. I have applied for a few grants over the years with no luck. Until today.
The pandemic has offered a unique capacity to focus inward. I put together a proposal on what I was wanting to play with without the pressure of sale and was awarded a $10 000 grant for skill development. 10K! To play! I can't wait to go shopping!
It shouldn't be a surprise, but man it blew me away. I am exited for the things that come and the new work that will unfold. As many who know me will attest, I am a maximalist in all aspects of my life. So here goes a balls out year long launch into assemblages, wood working, photography, floral arranging and maybe even some taxidermy. One thing is for sure. Life will never be the same.
